Gopal Bhar (Pal)

Gopal Bhar is known as a court jester during the medieval period of Bengal. He served in the court of Raja Krishnachandra, the famous monarch of Nadia at the time of Nadia in the late 18th century. It was due to the artistic power of Gopal that the king regarded Gopal to be an Navaratna in his court. His monument can still be found at the palace of Raja Krishnachandra. His exploits have been recounted in Bengal up to the present and have been immortalized in many stories. Stories are brief charming, funny, and convey a distinct social message.
