Gopal Bhar was an infamous court jester in the middle ages of Bengal. He was a court jester of Raja Krishnachandra, the famous King of Nadia during Nadia in the late 18th century. It was due to the talent of Gopal that the king regarded himself an Navaratna in his court. The statue of Gopal can be found in the Raja's palace Krishnachandra. His exploits have been told in Bengal until the present day, and immortalized in numerous short stories. Stories are short but they are beautiful, hilarious and convey a distinct social message. Gopal Bhar is known for tales of his knowledge and wit, which have him outwitting his fellow courtiers.
