Gopal Bhar

Gopal Bhar or Gopal Bhand (Bengali: gopaal bhaaNdd' ) was an infamous court jester during the medieval period of Bengal. He was in the court of Raja Krishnachandra(1710-1783), the-then king of Nadia in the 18th century. Gopal often brought happiness to people through laughing as well as ridicule.The the king regarded Gopal as the Navaratna in his court. The statue of Gopal can be seen in the Palace of Krishnachandra and also in Ghurni, Krishnagar town. Gopal was extremely smart and deeply committed to his concept.
